Flotators
General information about flotators
Flotation is a solid-liquid separation’s system that consists on facilitating and accelerating the re-ascention of surface solids, oils and greases in water by micro air bubbles. These micro bubbles, inducted in the fluid, stick to the suspended solid particles reducing their apparent density and pushing them to the surface, where they get displaced by a continuous surface cleaning system.
Micro bubbles production is obtained by air saturation on a percentage of process fluid coming from downstream of flotators and re-injected upstream flotators.
When the oily substances presents as emulsion, the flotation system has to be equipped with a suitable flocculation treatment able to brake the emulsion.
Machinery description
AIRCLOUD rectangular-shaped flotators are fully built in AISI-304 stainless steel and represent a technical evolution in air dissolved flotators (DAF). This system is based on differential pressure and on different solubility of air in pressure-rated water.
|
| Depending on different flow rates and type of waste water discharges, two different types of pressurization system are available: |
| - |
Plants working with a low suspended solids load
Pressurization system is composed by an ejector that sucks up ambient air and re-circulates the air/water mix upstream saturation pump; |
| - |
Plants working with a high suspended solids load
Pressurization system is composed by a compressor and a saturation tank that permit to reach a saturation value of 95% on theorical value. |
|
In order to increase the separation efficiency, in presence of low-speed flakes as well, AIRCLOUD flotator is equipped with AISI-304 stainless steel lamellas, so that micro-flakes aggregation will be simplified/improved.
|
| Both systems are equipped with: |
| - |
- Tubular reactor for in-line flocculation, for coagulant and flocculant chemical dosage and saturated water injection; |
| - |
- Telescopic level regulators to ad just the surface scraper blades draft; |
| |
- Extraction pump for the discharge of surface and bottom sludges. |
